Cardiocrinum Giganteum, the giant Himalayan lily, is the largest species of any of the lily plants, growing up to 2 metres high and possibky taller. It is found in the Himalayas, China and Myanmar.

Cardiocrinum are large bulbous perennials with trumpet-shaped flowers that look like lilies. They produce high flowering spikes of cream-white flowers with maroon markings inside each flower throat. 

Cardiocrinums provide a gorgeous vanilla scent and will typically flower during the months of June and August where they will give an abundant display of over 20 (sometimes up to 40) flowers per stem! 

Cardiocrinum Giganteum are known as monocarpic, this means they die after flowering. But don't worry, these beauties still have more give as more bulbs are formed around the base of the old stem and seedlings can appear nearby too. These can take some time to get established but it will be worth the wait!

All orders should be dispatched within 3-5 working days during this time.
However, during the months of April and May, we may allow up to 10 working days for dispatch due to exhbiting at the flower shows.

Returns and Refunds

You have the right to cancel your order at any time before it is dispatched.
All returns must be returned at your cost within 7 days of receipt.
Payment for the returned goods will be refunded within 7 days of the goods being received by us, less the postage charges.

Planting Cardiocrinum Giganteum in Pots/Containers

• If planting in containers, use a good-quality, multi-purpose compost with added grit. Make sure your pot is free draining.
• Bulbs should be planted in the Spring for flowering in June to July.
• Plant the bulbs with the tip just at the surface so you can see the bulb.
• Plant one bulb to a 30cm / 12" pot/container.

• Space each bulb about 30-40cm / 12-15" apart.

Planting Cardiocrinum Giganteum in the Garden

• Cardiocrinum giganteum like most soil types.
• They prefer the soil to be moist but well drained. 
• Soil can be Acid, Alkaline or Neutral preferably humus-rich.
• Woodland settings are ideal.
• These lilies like a shady position where the direct sunlight will not burn their leaves.
• We would also advise planting these bulbs around larger trees and shrubs to protect them from strong winds. 
• Group bulbs towards the back of flower beds due to their height.
• Plant the bulbs with the tip just at the surface so you can see the bulb. 

How to care for Cardiocrinum Giganteum

• Avoid water logging and may need some protection from frosts in colder climates.
• No pruning required. 
• Once the bulbs have become established and begin to enlarge, cardiocrinums resent being moved. 
• It’s normal for this plant to not flower for about five years, and even longer in some cases.
