Hyacinth 'Delft Blue' is a timeless classic, admired for its rich, lavender-blue blooms and unmistakably elegant presence in the spring garden. Named after the famous Dutch pottery, this variety is known for its striking colour, which ranges from soft violet to deep porcelain blue, creating a sophisticated and serene display.

Each flower spike is densely packed with bell-shaped florets, whose petals gently curl back to reveal intricate detailing and a graceful form. These architectural blooms are perched atop strong, upright stems that can reach up to 30 cm (12 inches) in height, giving them a bold vertical impact ideal for the middle or front of borders, containers, and formal beds.

More than just beautiful, 'Delft Blue' is highly fragrant, releasing a sweet, fresh scent that lingers in the air and attracts pollinators such as bees. It performs just as beautifully in pots on patios and balconies as it does in large garden displays, and it's a favourite choice for indoor forcing as well — bringing early spring cheer to windowsills and conservatories.

Plant bulbs in autumn in well-drained soil, in a sunny or partially shaded position, and you'll be rewarded in early to mid-spring with eye-catching blooms that return year after year. Whether mass-planted for a breathtaking sweep of blue or added as a colour highlight among whites and pinks, Hyacinth 'Delft Blue' never fails to impress with its colour, structure, and unforgettable scent.
