Muscari 'Marleen'

A superbly rich, dark purple-blue grape hyacinth, Muscari Armeniacum 'Marleen' is a true spring gem that will bring your garden to life with its colour and fragrance. This hardy and vigorous little bloomer may be compact, but it has a bold presence, bursting into flower just when the garden needs a lift after winter’s rest.

Plant 'Marleen' in generous clusters among your favourite spring companions — think daffodils, tulips, or dwarf irises — and enjoy the tapestry of colour and the wonderfully sweet, nostalgic scent that fills the air. Its intense blue tones create a beautiful contrast and add depth to beds, borders, and containers alike.

Not only is it a joy in the garden, but Muscari 'Marleen' is also a wonderful choice for cut flower arrangements. Snip a few stems and bring that lovely springtime fragrance indoors — a perfect way to brighten up a windowsill, dining table, or bedside with a touch of seasonal charm.

Easy to grow, low-maintenance, and bursting with spring spirit, 'Marleen' is a must-have for any flower lover.

How to plant Muscari

  • Find a location with well-drained soil
  • Muscari are shade lovers and grow well in full or partially-shaded areas.
  • If planting in the garden, plant the bulbs 6-8cm (2-3") below the soil surface and 6-8cm (2-3") apart.
  • We advise planting them in groupings of 10 or more bulbs.
  • If planting in Pots, find a container and fill it with good-quality, well-drained soil. Ensure there is adequate draining holes.
  • Plant in the Autumn, September through November.
  • After planting, water the bulbs well, gently soaking the soil to settle it around the bulbs.
  • Muscari will flower in March.

Care Instructions

How to care for your Muscari

  • After flowering has finished for the season leave the foliage in place; don't cut it off. The leaves will gather sunlight, create food through photosynthesis and strengthen the bulbs for the future.
  • Water as needed during active growth periods.
