Miniature Narcissus 'Elka'
Miniature Narcissus 'Elka' AGM

Miniature Narcissus 'Elka' is a truly elegant little daffodil that brings understated beauty and grace to the spring garden. Reaching a tidy height of around 26 cm, its slender, leafless stems hold delicate cream-white blooms with soft yellow trumpets that gently deepen in tone as they mature — like nature's own watercolour painting unfolding in your garden.

Awarded the prestigious RHS Award of Garden Merit, it’s easy to see why 'Elka' has captured the hearts of gardeners. This variety combines charm with reliability, blooming faithfully each spring with minimal fuss. Its compact size makes it ideal for pots, rockeries, front-of-border displays, or even tucked into grassy areas for a more naturalised effect.

The subtle colouring pairs beautifully with other early spring favourites — try planting alongside Crocus, Muscari, or Iris reticulata for a soft, pastel-themed display that oozes spring freshness.

Refined, hardy, and effortlessly lovely, Miniature Narcissus 'Elka' is a quiet standout — the kind of flower that makes you pause and smile each time you pass.

How to plant Narcissus

  • Find a location with well-drained soil. Narcissus will not thrive in water-logged areas.
  • Narcissus like to receive full sun for most of the day.

Planting Narcissus in the Garden

  • Space the bulbs 7-10cm (3-4") apart. Allow 4 to 5 bulbs per square foot.

Planting Narcissus in Pots

  • If planting in pots, find a large container and fill it with good-quality, well-drained soil. Ensure there is adequate draining holes.
  • Plant in the Autumn, September through November.
  • Plant the bulbs with their pointed tops 10-15cm (4-6")
  • After planting, water the Narcissus well, gently soaking the soil to settle it around the bulbs.
  • Narcissus will flower early Spring.

Care Instructions

How to care for Narcissus

  • After flowering has finished for the season leave the foliage in place; don't cut it off. The leaves will gather sunlight, create food through photosynthesis and strengthen the bulbs for the future.
  • Water as needed during active growth periods.
  • By mid summer the leaves may yellow and die back. Foliage may be removed at this point.
