Muscari 'Artist'

Muscari 'Artist' is a charming little springtime treasure that’s sure to steal the show in any garden setting. Reaching a petite height of around 15cm, this delightful variety may be small, but it makes a big impression. Its clusters are packed with dainty, pea-like florets in a soft lilac-blue hue, each delicately edged in white — as if they’ve been hand-painted by nature herself.

Not only is 'Artist' a feast for the eyes, but it also boasts a beautifully sweet fragrance that gently perfumes the air, drawing in pollinators and passersby alike. It's perfect for planting at the front of borders, weaving through rockeries, or filling pots and containers where you can enjoy its scent up close.

Whether you're creating a cottage garden look, brightening up a patio, or simply adding a pop of spring cheer, Muscari 'Artist' brings both elegance and a touch of whimsy to your display. Pair it with other spring favourites like dwarf tulips or iris reticulata for a picture-perfect seasonal arrangement.

How to plant Muscari

  • Find a location with well-drained soil
  • Muscari are shade lovers and grow well in full or partially-shaded areas.
  • If planting in the garden, plant the bulbs 6-8cm (2-3") below the soil surface and 6-8cm (2-3") apart.
  • We advise planting them in groupings of 10 or more bulbs.
  • If planting in Pots, find a container and fill it with good-quality, well-drained soil. Ensure there is adequate draining holes.
  • Plant in the Autumn, September through November.
  • After planting, water the bulbs well, gently soaking the soil to settle it around the bulbs.
  • Muscari will flower in March.

Care Instructions

How to care for your Muscari

  • After flowering has finished for the season leave the foliage in place; don't cut it off. The leaves will gather sunlight, create food through photosynthesis and strengthen the bulbs for the future.
