How to plant Double Begonias

  • Double Begonia Tubers are ideal for containers, pots or tubs.
  • From February onwards, start Begonia tubers off in a well-drained compost in a sunny position.
  • We advise planting 3 x tubers into an average hanging basket.
  • Position the Begonia tubers just below the compost surface with the 'hole' of the tuber facing up approx 2.5cm deep.
  • Space your tubers about 2cm apart.

How to care for Double Begonias

  • Feed and water Begonia plants frequently throughout the growing season. Take care not to over water.
  • Deadhead faded flower heads regularly, this will encourage new growth for longer.
  • Once the Begonia flowering season has finished, the stems and foliage will turn yellow and die back naturally.
  • Reduce watering to prevent rotting.
  • Once all the stems have fallen off naturally, dig out the tubers, clean and dry them before storing them away in peat or sand in a dry, frost-free area like a garage or shed.
  • Replant the following February.

I just wanted to say how pleased I am with the begonia tubers I received from you today. They are huge in comparison to other nurseries I have dealt with. Thanks Tom Nimmo

Thankyou for your kind email.

I have just received my begonia corms and would like to thank you for your very efficient service and the size of the corms far better than I could buy in any garden centre near here

Ah that's lovely to hear - thank you for emailing us.

Border plants

This question was asked by
- Jean Garner

Whats the best low level flowers to plant in the front of my borders?

Begonias are great for planting at the front of your borders. They are low level and full of colour. Begonias great summer plants as they flower profusely from June to October and are easy to plant and easy to care for. Once everything has died back, simply lift and store Begonia tubers over winter for replanting the following year.

Adding to order

This question was asked by
- D. Bethel

Appreciate if you could update the above order to 2 off instead of 1, ie 30 bulbs instead of 15. Regards David

Yes I can update your order, that's no problem - I will need to take payment for the additional 12.50. What's the best number to call you on please?
