RHS Award of Garden Merit

Eucomis Bicolor, more commonly known as the Pineapple Lily, is a unique and exotic-looking bulbous perennial that brings bold architectural interest to the garden. As the name suggests, its flower heads resemble tiny pineapples, formed by a central erect stem densely packed with star-shaped blooms, all topped with a distinctive crown of leafy bracts.

This striking variety flowers in late summer through to early autumn, providing a welcome burst of interest when many other plants are beginning to fade. Each flower is a soft pale green, with delicate purple edging on each tepal, creating a wonderfully unusual colour combination that stands out in borders or pots.

Growing to around 45–50cm tall, Eucomis bicolor is ideal for sunny spots, and works beautifully in gravel gardens, containers, exotic-themed plantings, or mixed perennial borders. Despite its tropical appearance, it's surprisingly easy to grow and low maintenance, thriving in well-drained soil and a sunny position.

Summer Flowering Bulbs are dispatched from the end of February to the end of May.
All orders should be dispatched within 3-5 working days during this time.
However, during the months of April and May, we may allow up to 10 working days for dispatch due to exhibiting at the flower shows. 
Postage cost to mainland UK (excluding N.Ireland, Highlands and Isles) is £4.99.
All out of area postcodes are charged at £9.50.
Orders over £60 qualify for FREE delivery to mainland UK (excluding N.Ireland, Jersey, Guernsey, Highlands and Isles).

When your order is due for dispatch, you will receive a tracking email from us to track your parcel.
Your parcel will be sent on a 48 hour tracked service with Yodel.

Returns and Refunds

You have the right to cancel your order at any time before it is dispatched.
All returns must be returned at your cost within 7 days of receipt.
Payment for the returned goods will be refunded within 7 days of the goods being received by us, less the postage charges.

How to plant Eucomis

• Find a location in full sun/partial shade.
• Eucomis can be grown in most soil types, please ensure it is well-drained.
• Water freely when in flower. 

How to plant Eucomis in pots

• We recommend planting in a loam-based compost like John Innes No.3 with added grit.
• Mix 2/3 compost to 1/3 horticultural grit. 
• Plant in a wide, shallow pan container.
• Plant bulbs so the tip is just below the surface.
• Allow 7-15cm (3-6") apart.

How to plant Eucomis in the garden

• Plant each bulb 10-15cm (4-6") deep to protect from frost damage.
• Space each bulb 15cm (6") apart.

How to care for Eucomis

• Eucomis may need protecting over winter. Apply a mulch to protect from hard frosts. Cover with 10cm thick of bark or leaf mould. 
• Containers can be kept in a frost-free place over winter, bring them into shelter from October. Allow the compost to dry out for the bulbs to become dormant. 
• If you wish to lift them, dry the bulbs off and store them in a frost-free place such as a shed or greenhouse. 
• In the spring, give your pots a top dress with a general fertiliser like Growmore.
