Nerine Bowdenii 'Patricia' is a pale pink, lily-looking autumn flower. Great for planting in a sunny position and left undisturbed to form congested clumps. Nerines can be planted just with the bottom half of the bulb just brow surface level.

How to plant Nerines

Planting Nerines in the Garden

  • Locate your permanent position to plant your Nerines preferably in a sunny spot where you know they won't be disturbed. 
  • Plant in swathes of 3 or more bulbs will produce a lovely floral display. 
  • Space each bulb 15-20cm (6-8") apart.
  • Plant with the bottom half of the bulb below surface level with the roots spread out. The neck of the bulb needs to be above ground. 
  • Plant in well-drained soil in a sunny position. 
  • Water well. 

Planting Nerines in Pots

  • If planting in pots, plant your bulbs using a mixture of 50% multipurpose compost and 50% loam-based compost such as John Innes No.2.
  • Plant with the bottom half of the bulb below surface level with the roots spread out. 
  • Space Nerines 10-15cm (4-6") apart.
  • Plant in well-drained soil in a sunny position. 
  • Water well.

Care Instructions

  • Nerines do not like to be disturbed so establish a decent position from the off and avoid moving them. 
  • Protect in very cold areas with a mulch over winter. 
  • Don't worry if the flowering is not brilliant the first year, its just establishing itself. Be patient and you will see results in 12-18months. 
  • Do not divide Nerine bulbs as they prefer to become quite congested and grow in clumps.
