How to plant Ornithogalum? I tried googling but what I read was quite ambiguous – some say protect from frost, some not. Some say the plant will naturalise, some not. May I please request planting instructions. Also is it better to plant in the ground or planter.

Hi there,
We do find some say one thing and others say another, we even noticed it on Gardener’s World last week. That said, this is what we advise:

How to plant Ornithogalum
Plant your Ornithogalum bulbs in Spring once the last frosts have passed.
Plant in pots or borders, in full sun or partial shade.
Plant your bulbs 15-20cm deep and space the bulbs 15-20cm apart.
Plant with the point end up.
Water in after planting and water regularly during active growth period.

How to care for Ornithogalum
Keep well hydrated during active growth period.
Mulch over for winter.
If in a frost prone area, lift your bulbs and store over winter and replant the following spring.
