Lily Flowering Periods

This question was asked by

Hi
I am looking to plant lilies in large pots – so not dwarf lilies – for an event in mid-July 2018.
I have a lot of Lilium Regale which seem to bloom around midsummer (June 21st).
What type would you recommend for an early July display. I tend to like pure colours eg. plain white, and scented.
Are they best planted in Spring and is there no advantage to autumn planting?
Best wishes

Hi David

Thank you for your email. We will be sending out our lilies in the Spring as that’s when we recommend planting. We would suggest the following flowering periods for each lily variety :
Asiatics – end of June/beginning of July.
Oriental Trumpets – beginning of July through to the end of July.
Orientals – Late July through to August.

For a real dazzling display in pots I would recommend the Orientals Trumpets as they reach a height of 6ft plus, here are some gorgeous white varieties which have a fabulous scent:

Villa Blanca (SKU17774)

Mezzana (SKU17772)

Kind regards
