Double lily with stamen

I purchased the above lilies together with My Wedding last year and have just had my first bloom from Empress ( My Wedding still to flower).
I notice that whilst it appears true to picture & is a double it has pollen stamens.
Is this normal or have I received the wrong bulbs.

Hi Alan

Yes, this is completely normal for the stamen to still present themselves because of climate factors. This can occur when the lilies get stressed because of extreme heat, which is most likely from the weather we experienced back in June.

Bought a few bulbs from you this year. The best tree lilies I’ve grown yet. Outstanding blooms. They are what I look forward to flowering in my garden every year. I have grown them for about 5 years now.
What is the best time to purchase bulbs for next year to guarantee the best selection?

I would advise ordering them now so you don’t miss out on any varieties. If we happen to add any new lilies to our collection that you like, I can always add them to your order at a later date so you don’t incur any additional P&P fees.

Are lilies safe to have in a garden with a cat/dog?

Hi there,

Like most things in the garden, if ingested, then yes lilies and are poisonous to cats/dogs. More commonly, the problem with lilies is when a cat or dog brushes past the pollen and then licks it off their fur. That said, mosts cats/dogs are clever enough not to eat anything from the garden.

Having the Pollen-free lilies eliminates this risk as they don’t have any pollen.

Good Morning
I would just like to say , I ordered Precilla Gladiolis from you . I ordered 2 boxes with 15 bulbs in each box.
Well what can I say …..
I planted as per instruction…
They did not disappoint. They are absolutely stunning flowers and I have never seen a Gladdioli grow so tall . They are spectacular.

Hi there! I hope all is well. We absolutely loved the lilies that we got from you at the end of this year’s Chelsea Flower Show. I wanted to check-in to ask when the Anoushka will likely be available for purchase? I remember that you said it would likely be up on the site 2-3 weeks after the show, so I was wondering if that was still true so that I do not miss the chance to buy them for my mom.

Lilies not performing as well

I have some that performed poorly this year producing mini-plants. Do I need to dispose of the bulbs or just remove the small growths? Thanks.

Once your lilies have finished flowering, cut the flower heads off leaving plenty of stem on. Allow the stem and foliage to die back naturally until it has turned yellow and hollow. (This is usually towards the Autumn time.) You can then remove the stem and foliage at this point. Leaving it all to die back naturally will then feed the bulbs, allowing them to flower again the following year.

Once they have all died back, you can lift the bulbs and break off the baby bulbs as they are sapping the energy from the main bulb. You can then replant all of them and when you see signs of growth in the spring, you can give them a diluted tomato feed to help them on their way.

I have been nuturing Vuvuzela Lilies received from you in February, they are now just beginning to bloom, and are beautiful
For 4 years I have been sent wrong colour lilies from another company, so disappointed each time as these are my favourite
Grazers 7 really helped with the lily beetles and I only found a few this year

When can I order some Cactus dahlias?

I would like to grow some cactus dahlia for 2924 when are the next lot of tubers available to purchase
