If I order Lily bulbs within the next 14 days will they be shipped this autumn ?
Lilies bulbs are dispatched in the Spring for Summer Flowering. Martagon lilies are dispatched in the Autumn for Summer flowering.

You state delivery for lily bulbs is February to May; I am concerned that by May it will be too late to plant them for summer flowers. I would have thought they should be planted about November.
Thank you for your email. Lilies need to be planted in the Spring for Summer flowering. Once planted, they take 10 to 12 weeks to flower. The lily bulbs we continue to dispatch in May have been held back and in cold storage. They will then flower within the 10-12 week period once planted. They will then revert back to their original flowering cycle the following year. Hope this helps.

Earlier in the year i purchased your candy cane collection and could not be more pleased so have just ordered another 18 lily bulbs and wondered if there is any insecticide to deter and kill lily beetle and where to buy it from. would greatly appreciate your help with thanks Mick

Yes we have had some good results from diluted Neem Oil to keep the pesky Lily Beetle at bay! We recommend using a hand sprayer with 1 teaspoon of Neem Oil (5ml) plus a small amount of washing up liquid (as a surfactant) with approx. 500ml water. So 1 part Neem Oil to 100 parts water (1:100).
You can purchase Neem Oil online from Amazon I believe.

I have had spectacular results with my Roselilies. One in particular has 5 flower heads. If I cut them to take indoors will this compromise the bulb? I am hoping they will flower again next year.
Yes – unfortunately, it will not flower as well the next year. The flower stem and foliage needs to die back naturally to give the energy back in the bulb. If you do use them for cut flower, don’t worry they will mature again over time.

I recently saw Lillies planted in shade under trees at Wisley, and they looked splendid. Which lillies would you suggest for shade or semi woodland conditions. In passing I would like to say how thrilled I am with my last order of double lillies, they are breathtaking!
Did they look smaller than usual? They were probably Martagon Lilies. They work well in woodland areas with partial shade. We dispatch our Martagon lilies in the Autumn ready for planting.

I’m looking to order a number of bulbs and build a raised bedding area. However the bulbs I like are different some like acidic some like alkaline.
Would this not be recommended if I’m buying a multi purpose soil?
Multipurpose compost is fine for all lilies – ensure you mix a lot into the whole area.

This is absolutely fine, lilies are very happy in the sun. Just make sure you don’t water them during the middle of day when the sun is its strongest. Water your lilies first thing in the morning or last thing in the evening.

Are the pollenless lilies safe for cats?
Most things in the garden aren’t safe for cats or dogs. The problem with lilies is when cats brush past the pollen and get it on their fur and then lick it off. Pollen Free lilies are less risk.

Do I need to repot my lilies? You said that you should re-pot your lilies every so often, I have at least 40 pots with 5 to a pot. Three lilies are looking a little tired, the rest have been in the same pot for 4 to 7 years, if i re-pot them do I need to put new compost in?
Yes – your lily bulbs will probably need dividing and replanting now. This is usually every 3 years. When they have all finished flowering and died back naturally, you can dig the bulbs up and split off any baby bulblets you find, you can then replant all the bulbs you have found. A freshen up of new compost would be beneficial and perhaps giving them a feed with a tomato feed will encourage those that are looking tired. That said, they may just be getting to the end and need replacing altogether. Hope that helps.
