All our bulbs are perennials and they will come back each year. Depending on which bulbs you plant will depend on what time of year they will flower. Our website will tell you when each bulb’s flowering period is.

Start by looking in the Spring Planted Bulbs and Lilies Categories – these will flower this summer. Then you will need to look at the Autumn Planted Bulbs and these will flower int the Spring.

Hi there, I’ve just leased myself an allotment and my wife wants to grow Dow Jones tulips and oriental Stargazer Lilies. How and when do I plant? Thanks

Hi Josh
The tulips need planting after the first frosts this autumn and the lilies will need planting next spring for summer flowering.

Hi – we bought iris bulbs from Newby Hall and want to buy more but don’t want the same variety. Can you please tell me the 2 varieties we would have bought please. If I purchase lily bulbs now, will I have to pay p&p for them as they get delivered later thank you

Yes, there will be a delivery charge for the lilies but if you order your Iris this weekend then you will get free delivery for those with code FREESHIP.

The Iris we had at the Harrogate flower show were Blue Hill and Purple Hill.

Hi

I am looking for Allium Angulosum Summer Beauty bulbs – I can’t see these on your website. Could you tell me what you have that would be the closest match – I would like to plant them in clusters at the front of the border.

Sorry this isn’t one we stock I’m afraid. The closest we have is Allium Millenium that’s a bulbous root that can be planted in clusters.

Having bought many bulbs from you over the years, for the first time last year I planted lots of them in pots.
I’d be grateful if you could tell me if they will flower again next spring if I just leave them?

Hi there,
Tulips are naturally perennials coming back year-after-year. However, in some circumstances when they do return they are smaller and don’t bloom as well in their second or third years.

Tulips will flower well for one year and then need lifting out of the soil and carefully stored if you want to use them again. Once everything has fully died back, you can lift them and store them in a dark, dry, airy place over summer, allowing the air to circulate around them. They can then be replanted in the Autumn.
